Her Royal Highness Samdech (Princess) Norodom Vacheahra C. Dipl, daughter of His Majesty NORODOM Suramarit, late King of Cambodia, and half-sister of His Majesty NORODOM Sihanouk, King of Cambodia was born on August 17th 1946 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Education
Her Royal Highness attended Lycees Sisowath and Descal1es in Phnom Penh with Baccalauréat série B degree in 1966. She graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Toulouse (France) in 1968. Also in 1969, Samdech Vacheahra is a graduate in Superior Training of French Language in Foreign Countries of the University of Toulouse; the Institute of International Studies and of the InstiMe of Political Sciences of Toulouse in 1970, where she graduated with a thesis on education, khmerisation and adult education in Cambodia. A fluent speaker of four languages: Khmer, French, English, Spanish.
Current Responsibility
Her Royal Highness has been a Permanent Member of the Royal Cambodian Parliament since September 1998 (elected in July 1998 in the Siem Reap province) and Chairperson of the Parliament Committee for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Press and Information.
Former Achievements
In 1976, Samdech Vacheahra founded in Paris, the Association of the Khmer Classical Ballet, its objective was to preserve the ancient traditional ballet dance, which had disappeared from Cambodia following the takeover of the Khmer Rouge. This association trained many young girls in this demanding art and performed on many occasions in France, Germany, Belgium and Africa.
In 1996 in Paris, She founded and became Chairperson of the humanitarian association "Cambodge 2000 ", whose goal is to raise funds to support children education in Cambodia. This association supports in particular an orphanage in Siem Reap, which educates about twenty young children and teaches them how to make puppets and how to use them in plays of the traditional Cambodian Little Shadow Theater (performances are about both traditional Ramayana stories and about AIDS prevention).
